Recording of meteorological conditions at the demonstration sites has begun
08 Aug 2018
Five meteorological stations have been installed at Andros by the National Observatory of Athens in June, in the framework of the project LIFE Terracescape. The stations include, a central automatic meteorological and actinometric station, which was established in Moustakeion Foundation at Korthi and four small station of approximately 2 meters high at the premises of Moustakeion Foundation, the Panachrantou Monastery and at project fields at Giannissaio and Korthi.
In the central meteorological station, a series of parameters are recorded, such as temperature, speed and direction of wind, total precipitation. The station is connected online, sending every 30 minutes the data collected to the relevant website, which is automatically updated. The website with all the data collected is open to the public here.
The four small stations can record the temperature and air relative humidity every 10 minutes, while collection of data is only possible by onsite visit of the station.
The establishment of the above mentioned stations aims to study the micro-climate in the project demonstration sites and its change after the implementation of interventions for the cultivation of terraces.
